I just cruised over to Linda Stacy’s Blog at www.irepnetwork.com and saw an icon at the bottom of her post that said TwitThis. So I checked it out and thought this might be a cool little icon that you can start putting on all of your posts. What Twitthis.com does is it allows others to send Twitter messages about your blog post or website.
It’s a piece of cake to use! All you need to do is go to www.TwitThis.com copy the html code and paste it to your blog post.
TwitThis.com offers a Wordpress plugin that will insert the TwitThis icon into each of your posts. You can also add this bookmark to your browser toolbar to easily send a message through Twitter about any page you are viewing.
There are so many Twitter tools and applications coming out, it’s hard to keep up with them all. But I thought this one was pretty cool.
For all of your Twitter fans out there, I thought you would enjoy these two tools for Twitter. If you don’t know what Twitter is, check out this article.
The first cool thing I wanted to tell you about is www.TwitterCounter.com Many of you have probably been on a blog and seen a counter that shows how many reader that person has reading their blog. Well this tool is the same thing, but instead it shows you how many Twitter followers you have. You can see an example of this in the upper left hand corner of this site.
The second tool I want to show you is, www.TweetBeep.com. The following will give you an example of what it’s all about:
Scenario 1: Your Name
Want to know who’s talking about you on Twitter? Add an alert for your name and your nickname, then TweetBeep will email you if anyone is talking about you.Scenario 2: Your Website or Blog
Want to know when someone on Twitter mentions your website with a link? Create a domain alert and get notified when anyone is linking to you, even if they use a TinyURL, Snurl, or other URL shortening service!
Scenario 3: Your Product
Need to see what people are saying about your product? Add an alert for the name of your product, and TweetBeep will email you if someone is talking it up or talking trash about it.
Scenario 4: Your Company
Want to know what people think about your company? Add an alert for the name of your company, and TweetBeep will email the lovers and haters of your company.
TweetBeep seems that it will be a very valuable tool. I am signing up today for it, I will keep you posted with what I find out about it.
I want to take a moment and cover some basics of blogging for all of those in the MLM Industry who aren’t familiar with what Blogs and blogging are all about. You don’t hear about using blogs from your company, but I do want to stress the fact about how important they are if you are planning on taking your business seriously.
If you are in Network Marketing for the long haul it is very important to brand you as a professional and a leader. If people view you as an expert in your field they will be more likely to buy and/or sign up with you.
Blogs help promote you, your business opportunity and products. Blogs are basically having your own web site, but much easier to manage. There are many different formats you can use as well.
You have probably heard of myspace and facebook, but there are more professional blog companies out there such as blogger.com which is owned by Google and wordpress.com which is my favorite. There are many more options out there as well.
The cool thing is, it’s completely free to set these blogs up and you can set more than one up. (I will cover why you would want multiple blogs in a later post)
Because the goal is to promote you and position yourself as an expert, I do recommend setting up a myspace and facebook account. Now like I said there are many more social networking sites out there, so if you want to try them out as well, go for it!
You can also set up a blogger and wordpress account if you would like. The reason I like wordpress over blogger is, you have more options on what you want your blog to do and look like.
There is also something else you will want to consider, because we are promoting MLM on our blogs, wordpress is very aggressive about closing accounts that have anything to do with MLM or affiliate marketing. There is a way around getting your account shut down though…(You can find out more about that in this article - ”wordpress slapped“)
You can have wordpress hosted by a different hosting company. When wordpress hosts your wordpress blog, they are in control, but if you have your blog hosted through a hosting company, you are now in control and wordpress can’t do a thing about it. If you decide you want to have is hosted by a different hosting company, you will need to download the wordpress software and upload it to your hosting server. You can download the software at wordpress.org.
Anyways, when you do have your blog set up, it’s very important that you offer good content. Don’t just say something like: “Best ever business opportunity!” because people are tired of seeing things like that. You want to build a readership for your blog and to do that, you need to offer valuable content that will keep them coming back. We will talk more about that in a later post.
Well, that is the basics of blogging, we will continue soon.
Here is a copy of a post I thought you all should know about:
“I will be launching my new project July 1, 2008. This is the socipress.com blogs i have been talking about. It will be two different options one to where you can set up an about me page and that shows up when going to your blog. I will correct something i put in the blog last post. The site will be using software but it is currently also being used by another blog host. The software will be modified though much different than that other site. So stay tuned for the new upcomming SociPress.com Blogs. This will offer the following options. A free plan which entitles you to 250MB spoce and a free subdomain. A Starter Plan which entitles you to 1GB of Space and gives you the ability to access your own ftp space. This will also give you the ability to install your own themes and plugins. Using your very own domain name as well the starter plan goes for $1.99/month the Advanced Plan is 5GB Space and goes for $5.99/month and the Premium plan which is 15 GB of space and access to the 24 hour a day support phone line goes for 8.99/month and exclusive access to the elite members forum which will entitle you to choose from our exclusive themes.”
With much excitement found in the Social Networking arena comes a lot of people not thinking things through. Not really understanding what blogs, micro blogging and different social marketing applications are really for.
We all know about spammers and how no one likes them, but you must watch out that we don’t become one too! Owners of blogs want readers and they want comments, but they don’t want their blogs comments being used to other’s personal advertising. Now it’s all part of the game and we understand that. But we need to be smart about things.
To avoid not getting your comments posted, don’t just throw up a comment like “get rich in a week, check out my site!” You may have a great site for people to see, but you are not impressing anyone with a comment like that. Whether you are posting in forums, blogs, or applications like Twitter, get involved in the topic at hand. Offer good content; show yourself to be a professional in your field, a leader, someone they will want to find out more about. You will have much better success getting traffic to your site that way.
There is nothing worse than to find a comment that has no relevance to the post they are commenting on. You wouldn’t like it and neither does anyone else. So if you want to leave a comment on this blog or anyone else’s, don’t spam your links everywhere, get involved and show everyone you are worth getting to know.
Please take the time to check out this article about getting “Wordpress Slapped“. If you are new to blogs and are using wordpress or plan on it, you need to read this. It will save you a LOT of time.
When I was on a trip a few weeks ago, I was sitting there stuck on a plane in the middle of a lightning storm thinking “wouldn’t it be nice to be able to schedule a Tweet when you know aren’t going to be able to for a while.”
Well, sure enough I just found out there is a way to do it. It’s called TweetLater.com With TweetLater you can schedule future Tweets for all of your Twitter accounts. It’s a piece of cake to use too!
All you will need to do it go to TweetLater.com and set up a free account. Once that is complete if will need your Twitter account info. You will need to set up your time zone as well, to make sure your Tweets go through on time at the right time.
Once you are in your account you can schedule your Tweet, just write your message you want sent and the day and time and you are good to go.
Another cool feature is the auto response feature. Where you can set it up so when someone new starts to follow you, if will automatically send them a Tweet welcoming them and thanking them for following you. You can customize it to whatever you want it to say.
You can also have notifications sent to your email inbox, as well as their TweetLater.com newsletter.
So if you are using Twitter on a regular basis and have a following that you want to stay connected with, you just might want to check out TweetLater.com
Enjoy!
